Geillan Aly Geillan Aly, University of Arizona

Geillan Aly is currently a graduate student studying mathematics education at the University of Arizona. She was raised in Queens and graduated from Martin Van Buren high school.

Larry Guth Larry Guth, MIT

Larry Guth got his PhD in mathematics from MIT. He has taught math at Stanford University, the University of Toronoto, and New York University. This fall, he will be starting a new job as a professor of math at MIT. He enjoys thinking about math questions and talking with students, as well as reading, hiking, and cooking.

Marcus Neal Marcus Neal, The Hammond School

Marcus Neal studied mathematics as an undergraduate at Princeton University. He is currently a teacher of high school mathematics in Columbia, SC, and an instructor for several Art of Problem Solving courses. He has a great enthusiasm for mathematics and also enjoys basketball, chess, music and card games.

Jorge Perez Jorge Perez, College of the Desert

Jorge Perez was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. He came to the US when he was twelve, and in high school he fell in love with geometry and has been pursuing math ever since. He obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of California, Riverside, where he was a founder of the SACNAS (Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science) chapter. Jorge now works for the Upward Bound program and Adult Basic Education program at College of the Desert.

Michael Pillsbury Michael Pillsbury, Charlotte Mecklenburg School System

Michael Pillsbury has been teaching 7th-grade mathematics in Charlotte, NC for eight years, where he is currently math department chair and has won several awards. He coaches his school MathCounts team, where this year one of his students was state champion and another finished in 4th place. Originally from Vermont, he served in the US Army as a military police officer before becoming a teacher.

Debbie Seidell Debbie Seidell, the Horace Mann School

Debbie Seidell graduated from Brown University with a degree in Math and Political Science, and from the University of Washington with an MS in Math. She currently teaches high school at the Horace Mann School in the Bronx. In her free time, Debbie likes to go hiking, meditate, and read fantasy novels. She also recently started to study Japanese - konnichiwa!!

Erin Toliver Erin Toliver

After earning degrees in mathematics from Bard and Dartmouth Colleges, Erin Toliver became a math teacher at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn, NY. Now living in Toronto, she funnels her mathematical creativity into knitting, sewing, and crocheting projects and enjoys cooking, baking, and playing board games.

Siddhartha Baral Siddhartha Baral, Bard College

Siddhartha is a sophomore studying Math at Bard. He is originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. Besides Math, he is also interested in social sciences and is planning to study anthropology as an additional major.

Abbey Bethel Abbey Bethel, MIT

Abbey is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Outside of class, she is involved in Alpha Chi Omega sorority and dances with MIT Ridonkulous, a competitive hip-hop team.

Victor Bhattacharyya Victor Bhattacharyya, Harvey Mudd College

Victor Bhattacharyya is a rising sophomore at Harvey Mud College in Claremont, California. In his spare time at school he enjoys participating in student government as the rising sophomore class president and giving tours as a tour guide. His passion for math follows him wherever he goes, be it founding the Mu Alpha Theta math society his junior year of high school or taking math summer classes at his college. When he’s not doing math in his spare time, he also enjoys sudoku and playing the violin.

Jeffrey Pereira Jeffrey Pereira, Bard College

Born in and currently living in The Bronx, Jeff is a sophomore at Bard College planning to major in mathematics and interested in the realm of probability and statistics.

Nerline Hyppolite Nerline Hyppolite, Queens College

Nerline is a math major and secondary education minor at Queens College in Flushing New York. She is part of the TIME 2000 program at Queens College, a math teaching program. She has a passion for mathematics and is constantly seeking for the math in everything. She hopes to share this very passion with SPMPS students!

Kahni Pr'Out Kahni Pr'Out, Savannah State University

Kahni Pr'Out is a recent graduate of Savannah State University, and she will start pursuing a Ph.D in mathematics this Fall at Iowa State University. While she is undecided whether she'll pursue a degree in pure or applied mathematics, she is certain she will work in academia.

Jake Weissman Jake Weissman, Bard College

Jake Weissman will be a sophomore at Bard College this coming fall pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Biology. Jake hails from Woodstock, NY, and while at Bard he enjoys volunteering in their local math circles.

Kaitlyn Hamilton Kaitlyn Hamilton, Girls' Prep Middle School

Kaitlyn is currently working as a Learning Specialist at Girls Prep Middle School on the Lower East Side in Manhattan where she provides intervention, instruction and counseling services to students in grades 5-8. She is also an avid runner and lover of the outdoors which makes her summer job out of the city a perfect fit.
